One Lincoln Plaza, New York, NY
Commercial/Mixed-Use
VALUE DELIVERED
EMCOR Services New York/New Jersey provided the complete turnkey installation of two 600-ton steam absorption chillers at One Lincoln Plaza, a mixed-use building housing ground-level retail, commercial tenants, and luxury condominiums.
This retrofit of the MER infrastructure required a complex rigging operation, and reconfigured large-diameter pipe. To save the client money, we provided value- engineering solutions for both rigging and piping trades. We prefabricated a large portion of the new piping and set it in the mechanical equipment room, reducing labor hours. We successfully completed this multi-phased rigging operation without interfering with the daily operations of this million-square-foot campus.
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
The client was in need of upgrading two absorption chillers in their central plant.
PROJECT SOLUTIONS
Our scope of work included: installing two 600-ton steam absorption chillers, retrofitting the building’s existing equipment, providing crane and rigging services, and prefabrication and installing piping.
The design team specified the two chillers’ head connections to accommodate the building’s new piping configuration. We performed crane and rigging over two full weekends in the Lincoln Center area of Manhattan. Our team utilized a rigging path through the existing 8th floor access doors. We installed the chillers in four sections.
